REMEMBER WHEN
March 29, 2009
Remember when what you wore did not matter, boys had cooties, playing in the mud was the best game ever, tag was fun, you could not find a good hiding spot in hide and go seek because you were always laughing.
Remember when…
Everyone owned a pair of light up sneakers?
Hey Arnold and Full House were the best shows ever?
Everyone could singthe rap to Fresh Prince of Bellaire?
“Talk to the hand” said it all?
The ultimate comeback was “Well why don’t you marry it?”
Enie Meanie Minie Mo solved every little problem?
Almost every sentence was finished with the word “NOT”?
Everyone had at leastone Tamagochi?
When you learned the planets in school, Pluto was one of them?
All movies came out on VHS?
The Rugrats were still babies?
Bill Nye was the smartest guy ever?
You took plastic cartoon lunchboxes to school?
Mr. Rogers was the coolest man alive?
You knew the pink and red power rangers were meant to be together?
Remember the first day of middle school, you were so scared and had no idea what to do. Kids started have name brands and all of a sudden your friends in elementary school were the ones making fun of you. You had to move rooms to go to your next class, you had locks on your locker, and you had to change for guy class.
Remember 7th grade, were you had friends but because of you new self not because they liked you for you but because they liked this made up version, when you had no idea what to do with all the pointless drama, when you best-guy-friend becomes your first crush, when you first hand saw the mini skirt and uggs fashion started, when makeup was an everyday thing, when you don’t know who to trust, when your grades are not the best you can do.
Remember 8th grade, you feel like you’re on top of the world, you have great friends, no fights, and assume teachers, but you still wondering what would happen to you reap if you defended that freak no one likes or wore and out dated shirt to school or even if you raised you hand for everything in class. It’s the 8th grade you’re going to be in high school soon, but all you can think about is leaving your good and bad memories. high school seems so far but yet so close, you’re scared that you’ll have no classes with your friends, your locker is the one that never works, your teachers are mean, and you’re so stressed you can’t breathe.
But you know what I’m not going to think of it that way, I’m going to make my mark at school, I want the teachers telling their new 8th graders stories about me and my friends. I’m going to skip down the halls of high school and not care whose watching, I’m going to make new friends and have the time of my life. But the one thing that I’m scared about is that what will everyone thing if I showed them the real me?
